Five months have now passed since my new website went online in June.
Finally, I have some news to report.
1.
Ron Boots, known to us all as a musician, friend and promoter of electronic music, approached me about a concert performance in 2026. Wouldn’t this be the perfect opportunity to finally bring my early music to the stage, i.e., the years 1985–1993?
After leaving Tangerine Dream in the summer of 1985, I faced the challenge of finding my own path and my own musical style. The advent of digital technology at that time, the ability to store sounds and make them playable on a keyboard, helped me create my own sound world. This resulted in solo albums such as WUIVENDT RIET (1986), THE ZOO OF TRANQUILLITY (1988), WHITE OUT (1990) and SONGS NO WORDS (1993).
But how to bring these works, some of which are difficult to play, to the stage?
I am very pleased to introduce Tim Sund. Tim is an excellent musician and keyboardist. Tim and I will be playing the music live next year. We both have similar instruments, both analog and digital.
Kurt Ader, a world well-known and active sound designer, is responsible for the manual playability of the original sounds from that time.
And as in previous years, Andreas Merz is responsible for the video production in his own artistic style, adding a visual dimension to the acoustic space.
We have given our joint work the title: THE WHITE OUT PROJECT.
2.
In 2017, the company “The SHOUT! Faktory LLC” published an interview with me on the subject of “Tangerine Dream/Film Music” FIRESTARTER on DVD. As requested, I played the title track “Charlie’s Theme” on the piano during the interview.
Andreas Merz and I have now compiled excerpts from the interview (link to the video at this website) on my YouTube page. This gave me the idea to also play music from the films “Firestarter” and “Legend” for the concert in 2026 with Tim Sund.
This expands the musical perspective back to the years 1983-1993.
